Spain is currently one of EU frontrunner in terms of renewable energy production and it can become one of the most relevant European Hydrogen Hub also being “hydrogen door” for African green hydrogen import via its natural gas pipelines and port.
Europe and Africa have to jointly promote a hydrogen transition to boost sustainable economic development and a decarbonization of their economic sector.
Africa can indeed exploit a huge renewable potential that can boost green hydrogen production also targeting export to EU to fulfil continental needs of hydrogen as foreseen by RePowerEU plan.
European, Spanish and African green hydrogen transition could boost local economies development, that’s why it’s important that both EU and AU hydrogen policies and development roadmaps (as well as Spanish ones) have to be conceived in a cross-fertilizing way.
In this workshop key hydrogen actors from Spain and Africa will dialogue to understand space of collaboration and development for mutual benefit for promotion of a green hydrogen based economy.
